E-Trading ....Our Viewpoint             (updated July 2008)

The world of e-trading is not quite as wonderful as we would like it to be, and consumers are rightly concerned about the growing amount of credit card fraud and identity theft.
 
Our in-house experience of traditional mail-order spans over 20 years .... there is, and always has been, an element of risk in "distance trading", since neither purchaser nor supplier initially has any real guarantee of the other's authenticity.
 
Whilst there are several, relatively safe, electronic methods of distance buying, these are all inappropriate when dealing with small amounts of money.
 
Sending £5 by these methods can cost as much again, which makes a nonsense of the whole system.
 
We, at AngelFilms, (having previously been the victims of both customer fraud, and unethical bank manoeuvres) have appraised many payment systems for our products.
Our conclusion is that most are unwieldy, unreasonably costly, or just downright risky.
At this time, therefore, we consider that the method incurring the lowest cost, and the most overall satisfaction, is the tried and trusted Postal Order.
By this means, YOU are covered against identity theft, and WE are covered against costly fraudulent payment attempts.
The Royal Mail have now streamlined the Postal Order into something more akin to a banker's draft, and the precise amount is printed on the order at the time of purchase.
Currently (2008), a postal order for £9.99 incurs a purchase cost of £0.87 ... a small price to pay for security, and we can generally turn around your order within ten working days.
You can, of course, send us a cheque, but it can often take up to seven calendar days just to process them.
If you are happy to wait, then we are happy to accept cheques, provided that they are made out in Pounds Sterling, and drawn against an on-shore English Bank.
 
Once we are happy with the security of a credit card system, we will incorporate it,
but most likely only via telephone or facsimile to minimise the risk of identity theft.
 
Rest assured that, if anyone comes up with another risk-free, quick,
and sensibly priced system for distance payment ... we will be there!!
